In response to the COVID-19 crisis, governments at all levels – federal, state and local – are releasing a host of new grants. While JobKeeper has got a lot of publicity, many local councils are rising to the challenge and offering support that your business may be eligible to receive. (For example, Whitehorse City Council has just released some fantastic support packages for local businesses.)
Contact your council to ask about any financial support being offered. These support packages are constantly being updated, so check in regularly to see if there’s something for your business.
Tip: To ensure you’ll be notified about new local council grants, create a Google alert:
- Go to google.com/alerts (you should log in with the Google account you want to use)
- Choose your keywords. ‘small business grants’
- Select other parameters such as frequency and sources, then choose the email address to deliver your alerts to
- Hit ‘Create Alert’
